A returned solider and Prisoner of the Korean War, battles an addiction that threatens to tear him from his wife and family, sending him into a spiral, leaving him with little hope for redemption.
I met Michael on the set of "Godfather 2" in Lake Tahoe in 1973. The wedding sequence took seven weeks to shoot. During this time Francis Copolla suggested Michael start a workshop on location to keep the actors busy and out of trouble. I went on to study with him for the next 10 years. His passion and love of the craft has always stayed with me.
"A Hatful of Rain" is as relevant today as it was in 1955. A wounded veteran and POW returns home dependent on the morphine that was administered in his recovery. At this time Post Traumatic Stress Disorder hadn't been identified. His wife, unaware of his addiction, tries to adjust to his profound change. "Hatful" celebrates the triumph of love in a family fractured by war, drug addiction and shame.
