Robyn Cohen received her BFA from The Juilliard School and subsequently began studying with Robert Carnegie at Playhouse West in Los Angeles. At the Actors Center in New York she received additional training with Earle Gister, and at The Stella Adler Conservatory studied under Bruce Katzman focusing on the plays of Anton Chekhov. From 2003 to the present she began leading workshops and panels at the William Inge Theater Festival in Independence, Kansas, and in 2006 (to the present) became a teacher at Playhouse West, a Meisner based program.
In 2011 Ms. Cohen began team teaching a Professional Acting Class with Jeff Goldblum and in 2013 was leading Meisner workshops at The Lesly Kahn School in Hollywood. In early 2014 Robyn joined the teaching staff of Studio 4. Some of her film work includes: Wes Anderson's THE LIFE AQUATIC (opposite Bill Murray), THE CELESTINE PROPHECY, ROAD HARD, ZZYZX, BEAU JEST, BONED and James Franco's films GOOD TIME MAX, FOOLS GOLD and his upcoming BUKOWSKI. In Television, she was a series regular on GRAVITY for starz network and has also appeared on such shows as: CRISTELA (recurring), THE MENTALIST, THE DEFENDERS, N.C.I.S., INVASION, THE CLOSER, N.C.I.S. LA, ANGEL, THE STRAND, STARVED (recurring), LAX, and others.
In the commercial world, Ms. Cohen has been seen in over 75 national spots. On the Stage, Robyn most recently performed in the world Premiere of Jon Jory's adaptation of TOM JONES at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, and prior to that, at The Falcon Theater with Melanie Griffith and Scott Caan in his latest play, NO WAY AROUND BUT THROUGH. Other Los Angeles Theater credits include: THE EXONERATED opposite Jeff Goldblum, the west coast premiere of Neil Labute's THE SHAPE OF THINGS (Laguna Playhouse), The Colony Theater (under Jerry Herman's tutelage), The Long Beach Playhouse (in PROOF), THE APE and BRIEF ENCOUNTERS (with James Franco at Playhouse West), and performances with The Blank Theater Company, Theater 40, The Victory Theatre Center, Vs. Theater, and in The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the L.A. Music Center. New York/Regional appearances with: Lincoln Center, The Ford's Theater (D.C.), Goodspeed Opera House, The Paper Mill Playhouse, North Shore Music Theater, The Sacramento Light Opera, Bucks County Playhouse, and with The National Tour of the Broadway musical, CABARET. She has most recently directed TAPE by Stephen Belber, 27 WAGONS FULL OF COTTON by Tennessee Williams, and HELLO OUT THERE by William Saroyan.
